Our Approach to Marriage At New Haven Congregational, we see marriage as a sacred covenant between two equal individuals who are choosing to share their lives together. We joyfully bless unions between people of any gender and welcome all couples seeking a meaningful, spirit-filled ceremony. Every wedding is a little different. Our pastor is happy to help you craft a ceremony that reflects your values, your story, and your hopes for the future—including children, family, pets, or anything else important to you. We want your day to feel personal, sacred, and just right. Who Can Be Married Here You do not need to be a member of the church to be married here. We offer weddings as part of our ministry of love and blessing. We ask that couples meet with the pastor at least twice before the wedding—both to get to know each other and to plan a ceremony that feels meaningful and authentic. Rehearsals Simple weddings may not require a rehearsal, but most do. Rehearsals are usually scheduled for the evening before the ceremony to help things run smoothly. Who Officiates Weddings are normally led by our pastor. If there’s a scheduling conflict, the pastor will work with you to find an appropriate officiant. Music and Audio-Visual You’re welcome to choose your own music, but we ask that selections be consistent with the spirit of Christian worship. Final choices will be made in consultation with the pastor. Your wedding can be shared live on Zoom for guests unable to attend the wedding. Decorating the Church You’re welcome to decorate the church to suit your style, working with the pastor to ensure everything fits the space. Many couples find that the simple, natural beauty of our church needs little more than some fresh flowers. Receptions Our fellowship hall (downstairs from the sanctuary) is available for receptions for an additional fee (see below). Please note that no alcohol is allowed on church property. Photography We encourage an atmosphere of presence and reverence during the ceremony, and ask that your photographer and guests be discreet. You're welcome to arrange a time before or after the wedding for more posed photos inside the church, at no extra cost. Fees Wedding fees are waived for active members of the congregation. For all others, the following fees apply: Reservation Fee (non-refundable): $100 Use of Sanctuary: $300 Fellowship Hall & Kitchen (with Sanctuary rental): $100 Pastor's Services: $300 Facilities Manager & Cleaning: $75 AV Support: $50 Your date is confirmed once we receive a signed facilities use agreement and the reservation fee.
