The old-fashioned “ladies’ auxiliary” is alive and well in our Church, but in a way that works for our time! The Ladies Union has kept its role as a working committee that functions to keep everything running smoothly. The group is open to any woman in the community, and at least half its members come from outside the church. The Ladies Union meets once a month, and dues are used toward missions throughout the year.

The Ladies Union seeks to do practical work that is needed in the community, provide a supportive community for women to meet and share, and raise money for the church and the causes it supports. Some of its activities, such as the Christmas dinner it hosts for the congregation, help tie the church community together. The group brings its organizational expertise to church-wide fundraisers including the chicken and biscuit dinner in May and turkey dinner in November. Members share with each other their concerns and life events, learn about needs in the community, and respond quickly and efficiently in times of illness, home care, and bereavement. The Ladies Union also delivers holiday baskets to shut-ins and offer supplies and financial help as we can to local persons in need.

Finally, the group supports the worship team in decorating the sanctuary with greens at Christmas, flowers at Easter, and special elements throughout the year, including fresh flowers in the summer from local gardens, candles, lights, hand-sewn curtains and more.
